City of Utica Utica is a town/city in Macomb County in the U.S.

The town/city now known as Utica was platted by Joseph Stead in 1829, who preferred to call it "Harlow." Others referred to the town/city as "Hog's Hollow" or "Mc - Dougalville," until a several years later it was finally titled Utica by pioneer from New York, with respect to the town/city of the same name in that state.

This was common of pioneer in this region, and is reflected in the names of close-by cities such as Rochester and Troy that are also titled for New York cities.

According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 1.74 square miles (4.51 km2), of which 1.71 square miles (4.43 km2) is territory and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) is water. As of the census of 2010, there were 4,757 citizens , 2,218 homeholds, and 1,245 families residing in the city.

The populace density was 2,781.9 inhabitants per square mile (1,074.1/km2).

There were 2,463 housing units at an average density of 1,440.4 per square mile (556.1/km2).
